Marquitha Mayfield, MEd, PA-C

Marquitha Mayfield, M.Ed., PA-C completed her training as a Physician Assistant at the Emory University School of Medicine PA Program, receiving a Bachelor of  Medical Science Degree in the 4th graduating class.  After graduation, she joined the staff of the Department of Internal Medicine at Emory Clinic where she worked  in Clinical Research assisting in the completion of clinical trials of investigational drugs. 

 

Mayfield has practiced as a Physician Assistant for over 30 years and has practiced medicine at Georgia Vascular Specialists for more than 25 years. She has held a variety of clinical and administrative positions including serving as Director of Family Planning and OB-GYN Clinic Director at an urban community based clinic, a Surgical Assistant in Ophthalmology, a Family Practice PA, and in Vascular Surgery.

Additionally, she has worked in the field of Academic Medicine, first joining the faculty at Morehouse School of Medicine in 1980 as Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine where she assisted in faculty research and provided patient care in the Family Medicine clinic.  While at Morehouse, she was also appointed to the faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine where she served as Academic Coordinator for their clinical medicine courses. She pursued graduate study in the field of education receiving a Master of Education degree at Georgia State University in 1986.  For 26 years Mayfield served as an Assistant Professor and the Academic Coordinator for Emory University's Physician Assistant Program, her alma mater, in Atlanta, GA.
